An Album Inspired by Fortune Cookies

Fortune Cookie Album Cover

I put out a challenge to my composer friends and podcast listeners to join me in writing music inspired by fortune cookies. Here’s the album we came up with.

Track 1: “祝你聖誕快樂” by J. Wilson

祝你聖誕快樂

(In Mandarin Chinese) No extraordinary wishes, only some choice words. No sweet talk, only one concern for you. My eyes see only you! Dearest, merry Christmas to you.

In addition to this beautiful song, Mr. Wilson also created a fantastic video documenting his epic quest to find a fortune cookie in Taiwan (not as easy as you’d think).

Track 2: “Do, Dream” by Nick Syman

"It may be those who do most, dream most"

Track 3: “Welcome to Boisenberg” by Felix Frost

You will take a pleasant journey to a faraway place.

Track 4: “Pizzaman” by Theo Hoglund

Fortune: To one who waits, a moment seems a year.

Track 5: “Follow the Advice of Your Heart” by Tom Snively

Fortune: Follow the advice of your heart.

Tom also did a podcast episode explaining his composition and production process.

Track 6: “The Long Road” by Mary Beth Huttlin

Track 7: “Stand and Fight” by Michael Chadwick and Damon Goodrich-Houska

Fortune: You might want to run, but you should stay and fight.

Track 8: “Finish Line” by Charlie McCarron

Performed by Nick Syman and Maia Hamann. Video of their live performance is here.

Track 9: “Everything Has Beauty But Not Everyone Sees It” by Lee Rosevere

Fortune: Everything has beauty but not everyone sees it.
