Time-Lapse Video of a Composer Writing Music

A Composer Quest listener in Taiwan just sent me this time-lapse video of himself composing music. We see J. Wilson’s entire process from sketches in his notebook to a finished piece. 6,000+ photos later and “Boom! Sonata.”

What a project! I thought it was pretty cool to see how another composer goes about notating his music. You can read more about J. Wilson’s process on his blog.

J. Wilson is a very productive guy. He also just submitted a bassoon, oboe, and clarinet arrangement of the Nerdist theme song for Quest #1 of the Composer Quest podcast.

Subscribe below to stay in the loop and hear J. Wilson’s arrangement played live by the Twin Cities Trio. Want your own arrangement played live and featured on the podcast? Take a listen to Composer Quest Ep. 22 to learn more about the challenge.
