Burren Girl

Earlier this year, I composed for Rita Davern and Melody Gilbert’s film Stories I Didn’t Know, about the struggle between the Dakota people and Irish immigrants moving to Minnesota.

But Rita wasn’t finished with her story. She still had years of footage from her trips to Ireland, searching for her family’s roots, and finding out why they moved to America. That’s what her follow up documentary Burren Girl is all about.

I was pleased to work with Rita again. This time, I acted more as music supervisor and music editor, helping find existing Irish songs and gluing them together with custom composition.

Burren Girl will be screening virtually at the Twin Cities Film Fest between October 22–31.

Shoutout to editor Miles Painter and sound mixer Jesse Marks, who both helped make my score sound great.

  1. I would be very interested in finding out when there will be a way to buy or rent this movie since my wife is from Ireland and I have an Irish band.
The Burren is a must visit. Wow.
Or is there a virtual way of attending the screening in Minnesota??
