Recording Your Live Performance
As a musician, I know how valuable it is to have quality recordings of live performances. Whether it's for a grad school audition, a Myspace demo song, a full-length live album, or just for your own personal iTunes library, it's really rewarding to have your music recorded. I offer on-location recording and mixing in the St. Paul/Minneapolis area.
In recording live music, I strive for the most natural sounding recreation of the performance. The following samples give you a taste of the audio quality we can achieve. I recorded each of these pieces in a live, concert setting.

Recording Services F.A.Q.
What types of performances do you record?
Music recitals, coffeehouse gigs, jam sessions in a garage, audition demos, rock concerts, classical concerts, jazz concerts, concerts in schools, theaters, parks, basements...the list goes on. I can also record non-musical events, like speeches and poetry slams.
How much will it cost?
On-location recording and mixing rate - $40/hour. Contact me with your event details for a quote.
Where do you record?
I come to you. Wherever you're performing, I will bring my own equipment. I'm based in the Twin Cities of Minnesota, but available to travel a reasonable distance to help you out. I'll be happy to come to the St. Cloud area for any CSB/SJU performances.
Will the recording process interfere with my performance?
Not at all. I work independently of performers, so they can focus on their music. My setup is very unobtrusive - two microphones just in front of the stage, a laptop, and a compact mixer. You won't be hassled with extra equipment on stage.
What if I want video or pictures of the performance?
Let me know, and I'll gladly recommend videographers we can work with.
Do you create CDs of the performance?
Yes, the finished product will be a CD of the recording. If you want, I can divide the performance into separate tracks for each song. I can also give you any of the original audio files I record.
Who owns the rights to the audio recording and music?
The recording is yours to do with as you wish. I make no claim of ownership of the recording or the music. Any recordings I save on my system are solely for backup purposes. If your performance contains any music written by another artist, keep in mind you may need to pay that artist royalties if you decide to sell the recordings.
This all sounds good, how can I contact you?
