I’m going to be speaking on a couple of upcoming panels about crowdfunding, so I thought I’d share some statistics about Patreon, and my Composer Quest patronage. Hopefully these stats will give you a little insight if you’re thinking about launching your own Patreon project.

Kickstarter vs. Patreon

2013

Kickstarter: $480 million pledged, 19,911 projects successfully funded
Patreon: $259,000 pledged to creators

2014

Kickstarter: $529 million pledged, 22,252 projects successfully funded
Patreon: Over $10 million pledged to creators

As of April 10, 2014, Patreon had 15,000 creators and 50,000 patrons

From all Patreon users, as of September 26, 2014

$1 pledges account for 33% of all pledges (and 5.2% of earnings)
$5 pledges account for 22% of all pledges
$10 pledges account for 10% of all pledges (33% of earnings from $5 and $10 combined)
$10 pledges and below account for 90% of all pledges (50% of earnings)
$50+ pledges account for 2% of all pledges (26% of earnings)
$100+ pledges account for 0.65% of all pledges (15% of earnings)
